Ways To Give
There are many ways to support the Foundation. Whichever you choose, every dollar moves directly into the scholarship pool. The Foundation does not pay salaries or overhead from donations. The Lodge funds operations; donations fund men.
One-time Gift
A one-time donation of any size goes into the active scholarship pool. A typical scholarship covers part of one phase of treatment for one man. Larger gifts can fund a full month, a full transition between phases, or a named scholarship in honor of someone whose recovery, or whose memory, you want to carry forward.
Recurring Monthly Giving
A monthly gift is the most useful thing a donor can do. It lets the Foundation commit to multi-month scholarships with confidence, because we know what is coming in. Even small monthly amounts, sustained over a year, fund full scholarships.
Honor and Memorial Gifts

Named Scholarships
Donors who wish to fund a named scholarship can do so for a single month, a full phase of treatment, or a multi-year commitment. Named scholarships can honor a person, a family, or a recovery program. Contact us to discuss options.
Planned Giving and Bequests
The Foundation accepts planned gifts, including bequests through wills and trusts, beneficiary designations on retirement accounts and life insurance policies, and charitable gift annuities. Planned giving allows a donor to make a larger gift than would otherwise be possible, often with significant tax benefits. We are happy to work with your estate planning advisor.
Stock, IRA Distributions, and Donor-advised Funds
Gifts of appreciated stock can be more tax-efficient than cash. Donors over 70½ can give directly from an IRA as a Qualified Charitable Distribution. Donor-advised fund grants are welcomed. Contact us for transfer instructions.
Employer Matching
Many employers will match charitable contributions made by their employees, sometimes dollar for dollar or more. Check with your HR department. We are happy to provide documentation.
In-kind Giving
Donations of equipment, services, or experiences that support the Jaywalker community, like outdoor gear for expeditions, transportation for alumni events, or professional services for the Foundation itself, are welcomed. Contact us before sending.
Why We Don't Accept Gifts That Come with Strings
The Foundation does not accept gifts that direct scholarships to a specific individual or that come with conditions on a man’s recovery. Scholarship decisions are made by the Foundation’s selection process, in consultation with Jaywalker’s clinical team, and they are confidential. If you wish to help a specific person, talk to us about the right way to do that.
How Donations are Administered
The Jaywalker Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization based in Carbondale, Colorado. All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of U.S. law. You will receive a receipt by email for tax purposes.
